Report a Construction Claim

Reporting a Claim when Contractor placed construction insurance​

  • If the Constructor placed the construction insurance, then the Constructor should report the loss to their insurer(s).

 

Reporting a Claim when you (Owner) placed construction insurance

  • As the Project Owner, the School District/Institution should report the loss.

 

If the loss caused injuries or property damage to others (WUL - Wrap Up Liability), report by email to:

 

NOTE:  ***Please note that workplace injuries should be reported to WorkSafeBC***

 

​If the loss damaged the structure being constructed or its building materials (COC - Course of Construction)

 *AND* 

The COC is self-insured: Report by email to: RMBClaims@gov.bc.ca

*OR* 

The COC coverage was placed commercially: Report by email to:

 

NOTE:  ***Do NOT report construction losses using the Online Incident Reporting System***

 

If the loss ALSO damaged School District/Institution property that was not part of the project

  • Report the loss via email to RMBClaims@gov.bc.ca

  • Example:  Renovation project whether there was damage to a portion of the building that was not part of the renovation.

Information to include when reporting a claim:

Email subject line: “New Construction Insurance Program claim to be reported”

Email body:

  • Your School District/Institution Name

  • Name of project

  • Location of loss;

  • Date of loss;

  • Description of loss;

  • Advise if the project is a new build or renovation;

  • Provide the contact details (name, phone number and email) of who can give additional loss information.

  • Helpful: the WUL or COC certificate number (found on the insurance certificates)
